Officials raid four illegal shelter homes in Jajpur

Jajpur, Dec 6: The  Jajpur district  administration on  Thursday  raided  five  illegal orphanage and shelter homes  being run by  Non- Government Organizations   in the tribal dominated villages of Sukinda and Danagadi blocks of Jajpur district

During an investigation, the officials had found a foreign missionary illegally running a boys’ hostel at Nadiabhanga village and  a  girls home at Bausanali village under Danagadi block.

“During our investigation, we found  a foreign missionary has been illegally running a boys  hostel at Nadiabhanga village and  a  girls home at Bausanali village under Danagadi block. 70 boys and 50 girls were reading in both  the centers. We also raided two children homes at Gobaraghai village was being run by a New Delhi based NGO since last three years,” said Niranjan Kar the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Jajpur.

He said the officials also seized some registers and other documents.

“Our preliminary investigation has revealed that all  the homes  were  not registered. We are also probing the funding sources of all these shelter homes,” said Kar.

Nearly 70 boys and 50 girls were reading at both the centers, he said.
