Sunil Gupta Elected Chairman of CII Odisha State Council for 2025-26

Bhubaneswar: Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer of Vedanta Limited’s Aluminium Business at Jharsuguda, has been elected as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Odisha State Council for the year 2025-26. Suresh G., Executive Director of Odisha Assets Operations at AM/NS India, has been elected as the Vice-Chairman for the same term.
Outlining the council’s agenda for the year ahead, Gupta highlighted the strategic role of CII in driving Odisha’s growth across key sectors, including MSME, metals and mining, healthcare, agriculture, and food processing. He emphasized CII’s commitment to inclusive economic development, especially in Western Odisha, through close collaboration with the state government.
“CII will work to strengthen Odisha’s industrial ecosystem by promoting green building certification, enhancing export potential, and supporting infrastructure growth through sustainable projects,” Gupta stated. He also announced the continuation of initiatives like the MSME Connect series, designed to foster collaboration between small enterprises, large industries, and public sector undertakings.
Echoing the vision, Vice-Chairman Suresh G. reaffirmed CII’s dedication to employment generation and productivity enhancement. He said the council will leverage its Centres of Excellence to provide sectoral expertise and conduct training programs on GST, Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Total Quality Management (TQM), and Export Documentation. CII has also partnered with the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education to upskill Odisha’s youth.
The council also outlined its focus on women empowerment, entrepreneurship, and leadership development through the CII Women Network. In addition, it plans to work with urban development departments to build the capacity of urban local body (ULB) staff, while promoting medical tourism by enhancing healthcare infrastructure and connectivity.
Looking ahead, CII Odisha will take up a wide range of initiatives across sectors such as tourism, innovation, urbanization, multi-modal logistics, fisheries and aquaculture, climate sustainability, energy transition, and the preservation of Odisha’s rich arts, heritage, and sports.
With its newly appointed leadership, the CII Odisha State Council aims to foster a conducive environment for business, empower communities, and support policies for a sustainable and inclusive economic transformation in the state.
