Man Kills Wife, Hangs Self in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly hacked his wife to death before hanging himself dead over a suspected family dispute in Dhamnagar locality of Odisha’s Bhadrak district. The deceased persons have been identified as Bhaskar Samal and his wife Sasmita Samal. The incident has been reported from Molan Sahi area under Dhamnagar police limits in the district.

Sources said the matter came to the fore after some local villagers spotted Bhaskar’s body hanging from a tree around 500 meters away from his house. Thereafter, when they went to Bhaskar’s house to inform about him, they found it locked.

Later, when they broke open the door, Sasmita’s body was found lying in a pool of blood with several injury marks on her body. On getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the bodies before sending them for post-mortem.

Though the exact reason behind the death of the couple is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that Bhaskar might have killed Sasmita and later hanged himself to death. The couple’s married life was not going well and they used to quarrel often over small things, said Sasmita’s brother. A probe has been launched into the matter and everything will be clear soon, said the police.
