Bargarh: 3 Killed in Jumbo Attack
Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, elephants trampled three members of a family including two children to death in the Paikamal Range of Odisha’s Bargarh district last night. The deceased have been identified as Pana Bariha, her daughter Sunanda (10) and son Aditya (3). The incident has been reported from Saladiha village under Paikamal Range.
As per reports, the family members were sleeping in the backyard of their house. A herd of elephants, who reportedly strayed into the village in search of food, barged into their backyard and trampled them. While three members of the family died, Pana’s husband Bipin, her son Mantu (7), and father-in-law Jatia sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
As the news spread, tension prevailed in the locality with villagers demanding compensation for the family of the deceased. On getting the information, police arrived at the spot and pacified the irate villagers. The cops also seized the bodies and sent them for post-mortem. Further investigation into the matter was underway.
