Youth Shot by Bike-Borne Assailants Near Balipatna Police Station

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident late Friday night, a youth was shot and injured by two motorcycle-borne miscreants near the Balipatna police station on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

The victim has been identified as Dipti Ranjan Mohapatra, also known as Kuna, a resident of Guapur village. He sustained a bullet injury to his left arm while sitting on the veranda of his sister’s rented house, located close to the police station. The attack occurred around midnight.

According to Dipti, two unidentified youths arrived on a motorcycle and suddenly opened fire at him. Despite being injured, he managed to flee the spot to escape further harm.

Police reached the scene shortly after and shifted him to Capital Hospital for treatment. After receiving medical attention, Dipti was taken to the police station for questioning.

During the investigation, police recovered a spent bullet and traces of blood from the site. Initial findings suggest that the shooting may be linked to past enmity. A detailed probe is underway to determine the motive and identify the assailants.
