Youth Killed by Speeding Coal Truck in Angul; Locals Block Road in Protest
Angul: A young man lost his life after being crushed under the wheels of a speeding coal-laden truck in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday morning. The accident occurred near Kumanda Sahu Pada Chhaka under the jurisdiction of Angul Sadar Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Mitu Bhoi, a resident of Badaberena village. According to reports, Mitu was riding his bike when the speeding truck hit him at Kumanda Sahu Chhaka, killing him on the spot.
Following the incident, enraged locals staged a road blockade, demanding ₹50 lakh compensation for the victim’s family. They placed Mitu’s body on the road and halted traffic movement on the Angul-Jindal route.
Protesters alleged that the truck responsible for the accident belonged to Maitri Company. The agitation was ongoing at the time of reporting. Authorities have been alerted, and efforts are underway to resolve the situation.
