Youth important for one trillion dollar economy goal: Dibya Sankar Mishra
Bhubaneswar: As Odisha aspires to one trillion dollar economy in near future, industry minister of the state Dibya Sankar Mishra said that youth is very important to achieve this goal. Attending the HR Leadership Conclave 2019 organised by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Mayfair Convention, Bhubaneswar, He said that, “We have highest numbers of youth. To become a trillion dollar economy our youth have to play major role. Our state has everything to support economic growth. Chances of growth are also very high in the state. On education front our youth are doing well. But they are only focusing on job opportunity available inside the state or country. To become globally competitive they have to acquire new skill sets on new age technology.”
Giving an example how new skill sets helpful to get job at international level, he said that, “countries like Germany and Belgium are giving highest salary to paid nurses. Our state produces number of nurse every year. But, they never think about this kind of job opportunities. If we able equipped our nurses with foreign languages they can easily get jobs in overseas and can earn in foreign currency. After that, they can sent foreign currency back to the motherland which will make the state even more prosperous.” He added.
Health and Family welfare minister of the state Naba Kishore Das urged the investors to come forward and invest in Odisha. He said that, “Our state has stable government from long time and recognized for good governance practices. Odisha has everything that investors are looking for. We offer them easy environment to do business. We are committed to support them in every possible way.”
Chairman of ICC Odisha State Council M C Thomas said that everybody worried about the impact of new technology in job sector. Technology is not a cause of job loss. Technology only shifts the jobs. Our youth should know about the new skill set that required in the industry. By doing this they can contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.”
This summit brings business leaders and human resources brains of the country together and they debated and discussed about, how to hit the untapped potential of human resources could be unleashed and harnessed to achieve the goal of making Odisha an one trillion dollar economy.
