Youth Critically Injured in Wedding Brawl in Ganjam’s Sana Ustapada

Ganjam: A youth was left critically injured following an alleged assault during a wedding procession late Sunday night at Sana Ustapada village under Kabisuryanagar police limits in Ganjam district.

The victim, identified as Banti, was reportedly attacked with a sharp weapon after a verbal altercation escalated, allegedly stemming from previous enmity. The assailants inflicted severe injuries, nearly severing 90 percent of Banti’s palm, police sources said on Monday.

Following the incident, Banti was first rushed to a hospital in Kodala, then to Berhampur, and finally shifted to Cuttack in critical condition as his health deteriorated.

While the motive remains under investigation, preliminary inquiries by the Kabisuryanagar Police suggest that a longstanding feud may have triggered the violence. No official statement has been released yet by local authorities or the victim.

This incident comes months after a similar tragedy in Cuttack district, where a youth named Sumanta Sahu was allegedly beaten to death by a group of 11 individuals on January 15. He was returning from a local fair when he was ambushed and fatally assaulted.

Investigations are ongoing in both cases.
