Yellow Alert Issued for Thunderstorms in Five Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for five districts in Odisha, forecasting light to moderate thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds, lightning, and rain.

According to the IMD’s nowcast warning issued at 1:45 PM, the affected districts include Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, and Nuapada. Gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are expected to impact these areas within the next three hours.

Residents in the alerted districts have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. The IMD has urged people to seek shelter in safe locations in the event of lightning and avoid taking shelter under trees or in open areas.

The yellow alert indicates the possibility of weather-related disruption, and citizens are advised to stay updated with official advisories.
