Wrong Bill Row: TPCODL Clarifies it as CESU’s
Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): After the publication of wrong electricity billing incident of Sisua Project UP School in Kantapada Block by several media organisations, the TATA Power management today clarified the billing as technical error. The TPCODL also clarified the wrong bill was given by the CESU in February 2020.
The Tata Power said in its statement that, “With reference to media reports that TPCODL has sent an electricity bill of an extremely high amount to the Sisua Project UP school under Kantapada block, we would like to bring to your notice that TPCODL has not given any such bills. CESU had given such a bill in February 2020 and also rectified it as it was a system error. The actual bill delivered by TPCODL was on 27th December 2020 for Rs. 48494/-.”
Previously the news came out that a primary school in Cuttack which remained shut for around one year due to COVID-19 has received an electricity bill of Rs 5.87 crore. The bill issued by TATA Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited. The date for availing the rebate is February 17 2020, while the school will have to pay Rs 5,92,82,212 in the case of payment after the deadline.
