Workers Stripped, Beaten, and Paraded in Sundargarh
Sundargarh: Eight workers from West Bengal were stripped, tied with ropes, and paraded publicly by villagers in Sundargarh district over alleged misconduct involving a local woman.
The incident occurred on Mission Road under Sundargarh town police limits. According to reports, violence erupted after a woman accused one of the workers of entering her house and misbehaving with her. Angered by the allegations, members of her community apprehended not just the accused but seven other workers, subjecting them to public humiliation and physical assault.
The villagers reportedly tied the workers with ropes and paraded them naked through the area while thrashing them. When police arrived to control the situation, they too were allegedly attacked by the mob.
Sources revealed that a journalist covering the incident faced threats from those involved in the violence. Despite the chaos, no formal complaint had been lodged with the police at the time of reporting.
Further investigation is underway.
