Woman sets mother-in-law on fire

Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, a woman reportedly set her mother-in-law on fire allegedly after catching her stealing money at MV 18 village under Malkangiri police station limits of Odisha.

One Jaya Baidya allegedly found her mother-in-law Renuka Baidya stealing her money. Later she poured petrol on Renuka and set her on fire while she was sleeping in the house.

In order to avoid suspicion on her and police action against her, Jaya fled from the village and went to her father’s house along with her four-year-old son.

After learning about the incident, some villagers recused Renuka in a critical condition and rushed her to the Malkangiri District Headquarter Hospital for treatment.

As she had sustained burn injury on 60 percent of her body, doctor referred her to a hospital in Raipur of Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, Jaya’s husband Abinash Baidya filed a police complaint seeking action against her. Based on this, Malkangiri police has started a probe into the incident.
