Woman Killed by Naxals on Informer Suspicions

Malkangiri/Bijapur: A woman was killed by Naxalites in the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border area on suspicion of being a police informer, police officials reported on Saturday. The victim, identified as Laxmi Padam, was an Anganwadi worker. Her body was found dumped in the courtyard, and a pamphlet from the Communist Party of India (Maoist)’s Madayi Area Committee was discovered at the scene. The pamphlet accused her of being an informant for the police.

The police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing.

In a separate incident, a head constable of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Birendra Kumar Sori, was killed during an encounter with Naxalites in the forests of Abujhmarh, Narayanpur district, Chhattisgarh. Further details are awaited.
