Winter Eases, Fog in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is expected to see a decline in the intensity of the winter wave starting today, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). However, foggy conditions are likely to persist across many parts of the state.

A high-pressure area is forecast to develop around January 22 and 23, bringing warm and humid air to the region. This will result in a rise in night temperatures, with a possible increase of up to four degrees Celsius by January 26. Despite the warmer conditions, the intensity of fog is expected to increase, with visibility in some areas reducing to as low as 50 meters.

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for dense fog in the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, and Kandhamal for today. Drivers, especially those traveling through hilly terrains and ghats, are advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.

The easing of the winter wave is likely to bring some respite from the cold, but fog-related disruptions are expected to continue in the coming days.
