Walden woods foundation plans ‘eco village’ in Odisha
Cuttack, Nov 11: Walden woods Foundation, a Delhi-based charitable trust dedicated for rural uplift by creating ‘Smart Eco Villages’ (Tourism Models) in Rural Areas to generate huge employment and conserve nature, has decided to explore the huge potential in tourism in State, where the availability of oxygen is high.
To start its journey in Odisha, it has identified a location which touches the North east edge of Kaplilash (Hills) wildlife sanctuary – about 60 kms from State Capital Bhubaneswar and in the centre of 3 districts like Cuttack, Jajpur and Dhenkanal to set up ‘Walden woods Eco Village’.
The aim of Walden woods Foundation is taking the urban people back to village by creating some recreational amenities and Promoting Organic Farming.
To protect the ecology the Foundation has plans to promote memorial plantations called “Waldenwoods Smruti Vana” where anyone can plant a tree in memory of any loved one.
The trust organised a function here which was attended among others by former bureaucrat Gokul Patnaik, Chairman, Bharatiya Charitable Trust Dr Kishanlal Agarwal, Santosh Ku Das, Sitaram Sharma, Director National Horticulture Board Odisha Ram Kumar Dash and eminent Gynecologist Dr Purna Chandra Mohapatra.
