‘Volleyball to be Encouraged in Bihar’

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): Dr. Achyuta Samanta, MP from Kandhamal and President of Volleyball Federation of India, announced that to promote volleyball in Bihar, sports material will be given to 100 volleyball clubs of the state on their behalf. Samant, founder of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, which runs for the overall upliftment of poor children, said on Wednesday that he would encourage 100 volleyball clubs of the state to promote volleyball in Bihar. When asked about the future of the volleyball game in Bihar, the President of the Federation said that if this game is promoted, then naturally the future of this game will also become bright. Giving the example of Odisha, he said that even five-seven years ago, there was apathy towards sports in Odisha, but with the tremendous efforts and cooperation of the government there, today there are many such players of this state who have national and international fame. Samant said that a list of 10 sports including rugby, weightlifting and chess has been prepared at the level of sports directorate and government in Bihar, which will be promoted. He said that the kind of efforts started in Bihar regarding sports, he feels that this state will perform better in this direction in the coming time.
When the MP was asked about the plan to open a branch of KISS in Bihar, he said that he had started efforts for it but due to the Corona epidemic, the work could not progress in this direction. He said that now the effort has been started again and he is hopeful that soon a branch of KISS will be started in Bihar. 16000 students from Bihar have successfully completed their courses . He told that at present 6000 students are now studying in his institute.
