Virat Kohli likely to retire from Test cricket

Shortly after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket, it appears Virat Kohli may also be considering the same decision.

According to the reports, He has informed Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about his intentions, and that he would like to finalise things before the tour of England which begins on 20 June. However, the board is trying to convince him to reconsider the decision.

Reports suggest that Virat has reached out to the board a few days back about his retirement from test cricket. If he confirms his decision,  then he won’t be available for the five-match Test series in England. BCCI is urging the cricketer to stay, especially since Rohit Sharma has also announced his withdrawal from the test cricket.

With Rohit Sharma out of the picture, and Virat Kohli on the verge of retiring, Indian cricket team is now left with a largely inexperienced middle-order to join forces with KL Rahul, Shubhman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Virat Kohli was India’s test captain from December 2014 followed by Rohit Sharma in February 2022.
