Vigilance Raids AEE’s Properties, ₹22 Lakh Seized from Son-in-Law’s House

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials conducted multiple raids on Tuesday targeting the properties of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Ramachandra Satpathy, posted at Athmallik block in Angul district. The action was initiated following allegations that Satpathy had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

During the raids, officials seized ₹22 lakh in cash from the residence of Satpathy’s son-in-law, Dr. Tapan Kumar Tripathy, who works as a Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Junagarh, Kalahandi district. Both Satpathy and Dr. Tripathy are currently being interrogated to trace the source of the large cash amount.

A special team consisting of seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 15 Inspectors, and supporting staff carried out the searches at eight different locations. The raids were conducted across the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, and Kalahandi, based on search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge in Cuttack.

The properties searched during the operation include Satpathy’s residential house at Gayatri Nagar in Dhenkanal, his government quarters in Athmallik town, and his office at the Panchayat Samiti Office in Athmallik. Additionally, his paternal home in Banasingh (Dhenkanal), two houses of his in-laws in Junagarh and Karamula (Dhenkanal), another in-law’s residence in Bhawanipatna (Kalahandi), and a structure constructed on a plot at Bachhipur, Trisulia (Cuttack) were also raided.

Officials confirmed that the ₹22 lakh cash recovered from the house of Dr. Tripathy has been seized. Further investigations are underway to determine the legality of the assets and whether more individuals are involved. A detailed report is awaited as the searches continue.
