Veteran Freedom Fighter Ishwar Bisoi is No More

Nayagarh (Reporters Today Bureau): Ishwar Bisoi, veteran freedom fighter from Majhiankhanda village of Ranapur block in Nayagarh district passed away yesterday. Family sources said Bisoi was suffering from age-related ailments for past few days.

Bisoi joined Azad Hind Fauj in 1945 and was jailed in Rangoon Central Jail. For his irreplaceable contribution to Indian Freedom Movement Bisoi was awarded the ‘Rashtrapati Samman’ in 2018.

Nayagarh Collectorate expressed sadness over the demise of Bisoi. The Collector’s office further stated, “We hope his life continues to leave a mark on us and his struggles be our inspiration.”
