Veteran criminal Susanta Majhi injured in police encounter

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have nabbed a veteran criminal from Kalinga Nagar area in the city following an encounter in the wee hours on Thursday. The criminal Susanta Majhi has sustained bullet injuries on his left leg in the encounter at around 3.30 am. He has been admitted to the Capital Hospital.

Police said that Susanta was involved in as many as 10 criminal cases in various police stations. He was wanted in a firing case in Khordha area 2 months before.

Police said that acting on a tip-off, Special squared of Commissionerate Police had been to Kalinga Nagar to apprehend Majhi when he tried to escape. However, he opened fire on us as a result of which we had to open fire in self-defence and he was nabbed subsequently,” said a police official. The injured were immediately taken to Capital hospital.
