UP: CAA Protest Gears up in Mau, Section 144 Clamped

New Delhi: After CAA protest in various parts of the country, anger against the Act hit cities like Aligarh and Mau in Uttar Pradesh. While the students of AMU clashed with the cups late on Sunday night at the campus gate to express solidarity with their counterparts in Jamia versity, protestors in Mau vandalised a police station and torched vehicles. Section 144 has been clamped in the area.
Mau saw huge violence last night. Cops also resorted to firing teargas shells and lathi charging the protesters. For security purpose, internet services were also suspended in four districts of Meerut, Saharanpur, Aligarh and Mau to stop rumors on social media.
Near anout 14 people have been held in Mau in connection with the protest and meanwhile, to maintain law and order in the area.
