Untraced Cop

Bhubaneswar (Reporters Today Bureau): An Odisha cadre IPS officer has been missed from her service for three years with no official actions against her. The Government not even aware whether she is dead or alive. As there is no contact, the Odisha government has decided strict action against the cop N B Bharathi for her alleged unofficial absence.
She has reportedly not joined duty since the last three years. According to our sources, an advertisement will soon be issued in print media about her unofficial leave and she will be given a 15-days’ ultimatum to respond. Following which, she may be issued a dismissal order.
A 1998-batch Odisha cadre officer, posted as Inspector General at Odisha Police’s human rights protection cell. Disciplinary proceedings were initiated against her for not reporting to office since November 23, 2017. She subsequently joined but again became invisible in 2019 November.
In December 2019, the state police headquarters apprised the home department about the Officer’s absence without any information, after receiving a report from the HRPC’s additional director general of police S M Narvane. She did not join office despite repeated notices and reminders. Many notices were undelivered on her postal addresses.
Former Chief Secretary Sahadev Sahoo told Reporters Today that the Director General has to inform the Government about the long absence of the cop. Then the Govt. to issue notice to his/her residence, e-mail and also publish notice in print media. The govt have all the right to take action against the cop in case of no response.
On January 3, 2020, IPS Vinaytosh Mishra was asked to inquire into the disciplinary proceedings against the IPS. In September 2021, office of the additional director general of Crime Records Bureau issued a public notice asking Bharathi to appear before it on October 29. Question arrises here that, how one IPS officer being invisible for years and no action was taken against her ? In the era of 5T how it is possible ? Hope for speed action into this matter.
