Two Minor Children Rescued from Alleged Abuse in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking case of alleged child abuse, two minor children were rescued from GGP Colony in Bhubaneswar after reportedly being subjected to repeated physical assault by their grandmother. The incident came to light after alert neighbours intervened upon seeing the children in distress and informed the police.
The children, who had allegedly lost consciousness after being beaten, were handed over to Mancheswar Police by local residents. According to neighbours, the minors had been facing frequent mistreatment at the hands of both their grandmother and father for a prolonged period.
During initial questioning by the police, the children reportedly stated that their grandmother regularly deprived them of food and subjected them to physical and emotional abuse. The accused, identified as Jyotsana Rani Patra, defended her actions by claiming she had punished the children for playing too much and neglecting their studies.
Sources also revealed that the children’s father, Sharat Patra, is currently suffering from psychiatric issues, raising further concerns about the minors’ overall safety and well-being.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. Further action will be taken based on medical examination reports and statements from witnesses.
