Two Arrested in Balangir for Printing and Circulating Fake Currency

Balangir: In a major crackdown, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch arrested two individuals in Titilagarh town of Balangir district on charges of printing and circulating counterfeit currency notes.
During the operation, officials seized fake currency with a total face value of ₹50,000, all in ₹500 denomination. According to sources, the seized notes were of high quality and bore a close resemblance to genuine currency, sparking concerns over the extent of the racket.
The accused were allegedly involved in both the printing and distribution of the forged notes. The STF has launched an in-depth investigation to trace the origin of the materials used for producing the fake currency and to uncover the full scope of the operation.
Efforts are underway to identify other individuals linked to the racket, including those who may have procured or used the counterfeit notes. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a larger network operating in the region.
