Top Maoist Leader Arrested in Malkangiri, Odisha
Malkangiri: A significant breakthrough in the fight against Maoist insurgency occurred on Friday when Malkangiri Police arrested Anti Madavi, a top female Maoist leader, in the Purti forest area of Malkangiri district, Odisha.
Anti Madavi, who was closely associated with senior Maoist leader Uday, served as his bodyguard. She had a bounty of Rs 2 lakh on her head due to her involvement in numerous criminal activities. Reports suggest that she was the mastermind behind nine shooting incidents, with notable involvement in the Maithili police station shooting incident in 2021.
In addition to her activities in Odisha, Madavi was also implicated in Maoist violence in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, with at least six attacks attributed to her leadership. South Western Zone DIG, Niti Shekhar, confirmed the arrest and emphasized its significance in curbing Maoist activities in the region. The police are continuing their investigation into her role in other criminal incidents.
