Tiger Census in Odisha From Today

Karanjia: The Tiger census at 18 forest bit under the Telkoi range in Keonjhar district began today.

According to the official, the counting of tigers is being conducted through transect analysis and camera traps. In transect analysis; the tigers will be counted on the basis of footprints, and scratch marks. Similarly, the movement of the animal will be captured through CCTV camera traps. The counting process will be continued for about one and a half months.

Apart from that, a number of tiger cubs under the age of one year are yet to be counted this year, which were excluded from the list during the previous census. The fresh report, scheduled to be compiled by January 2024, will include the cubs which would be about 2 years old.
