Three Youths Killed in Tragic Hit-and-Run on Bansadhara Bridge in Rayagada

Gunupur: In a heart-wrenching incident late Tuesday night, three young men lost their lives after a speeding car rammed into their motorcycle on the Bansadhara river bridge in Odisha’s Rayagada district. The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Gumuda police outpost.
The deceased have been identified as Bulu Sabar and Subrat Sabar of Kaithapadar village in Gudari block, and Balakrishna Araka of Jagannathpur village.
According to reports, the trio was returning from the Thakurani Yatra, a popular local festival held in neighbouring Tarini village, when their bike was struck from behind by a fast-moving car. The impact of the collision was so severe that all three youths were flung off the motorcycle. Two of them died on the spot, while the third was rushed to the Gunupur Community Health Centre in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The bodies of the two youths who died instantly were sent to Padmapur hospital, while the third victim’s body remains at Gunupur hospital.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after being informed and have launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, villagers have demanded immediate arrest of the absconding driver and adequate compensation for the victims’ families.
The tragic mishap has cast a shadow of grief over the region, with residents mourning the untimely loss of three young lives.
