Three Fake Cops Arrested in Odisha for Rs 2.4 Lakh Loot
M. Rampur, Kalahandi: Police in Odisha’s Kalahandi district have arrested three men posing as police officers, accused of looting over Rs 2 lakh from a villager’s home. The suspects, identified as Pintu Sethy (28) and Ashish Digal (28) from Baliguda in Kandhamal district, and Sudhakar Baliarshingh (32) from Pakari village, were apprehended by locals in Ruben village under Dedsuli panchayat in the M. Rampur area.
According to reports, a gang of seven impersonators entered the home of Reepa Majhi late at night, claiming they were conducting a search for a couple allegedly hiding there after eloping. Under the guise of the raid, the imposters looted Rs 2.4 lakh. However, as they attempted to flee, villagers managed to intercept them, capturing three of the suspects and turning them over to police.
The remaining four suspects are still at large. Police confirmed the incident and have launched an investigation, stating that efforts are underway to apprehend the other members of the group.
