Three Arrested in Bhubaneswar Youth Murder Case

Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate of Police has arrested three individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a youth in Bhubaneswar earlier today.

The accused, identified as Laxmidhara Naik, Rocky Naik, and Lipika Naik, are residents of the Kedarpalli area. According to police sources, the murder was driven by a dispute over brown sugar peddling.

A special police team apprehended the trio from Saranakula in Nayagarh district. Investigations revealed that the suspects had previously been arrested for drug peddling and harbored a grudge against the victim, Sahadeb Naik, for informing authorities about their illegal activities.

Sahadeb, who worked as a ‘Police Mitra’ and was employed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), had provided crucial information leading to Lipika Naik’s arrest on drug charges. Lipika, who spent New Year’s in jail, blamed Sahadeb for her imprisonment. After her release on bail on January 5, she, along with her husband, allegedly plotted the murder to avenge their previous arrests.

Police confirmed their involvement after videos surfaced on social media, showing the accused retrieving a sword from the crime scene and fleeing on a motorcycle.

Sahadeb Naik was also the President of the BMC Safai Karmachari Association.

The Commissionerate of Police continues to investigate further, ensuring strict action against those involved in the crime.
