Three accused arrested for brutal attack on BMC Additional Commissioner

Bhubaneswar: Kharavela Nagar Police arrested three persons on charges of the brutal attack on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahu today.

The arrested persons have been identified as Jeevan Rout, Rashmi Mahapatra and Debashis Pradhan. Kharavela Nagar Police arrested the accused persons following the complaint filed by the BMC Additional Commissioner.

They shall be forwarded to the court under strict sections of law as per the FIR and further investigation is in process to ascertain the involvement of others in the crime, said sources.

It is to be noted here that Ratnakar Sahu was brutally attacked and assaulted by 5-6 persons who barged into his office this afternoon while he was conducting a grievance hearing and dragged him out of his chamber by catching his collar and repeatedly kicking and punching him.

While the incident was heavy condemned by all, the officers and employees of BMC staged a road blockade infront of the BMC office and demanded arrest of all the accused persons.  Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the road following the blockade on the busy route of the State Capital City.
