Theft Reported at Nirmalajhara Temple in Ganjam
Khallikote: Following the recent theft at the Maa Taratarini temple, another temple in Odisha’s Ganjam district has fallen victim to burglary. Miscreants reportedly broke into the ancient Nirmalajhara temple in Khallikote on Wednesday night, stealing valuables from the donation box and other brass utensils.
According to reports, the looters jumped over the temple wall to gain access to the premises, then broke the lock on the temple gate. They took the hundi (donation box) and several brass items before fleeing.
The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the temple priest arrived for daily worship and discovered the broken lock. He immediately reported the theft to the police.
Upon receiving the information, Khallikote police visited the temple and began their investigation. Notably, this incident follows closely on the heels of a theft at the well-known Maa Taratarini temple on November 6, raising concerns about the security of sacred sites in the region.
