Telugu actor Fish Venkat passes away at 53

Telugu veteran actor-comedian Fish Venkat died at 53 in a Hyderabad hospital following a long fight with kidney ailment. His actual name was Venkat Raj and he earned a reputation for his flawless comic timing and strong performances in hits such as “Bunny,” “Adhurs,” “Dhee,” and “Mirapakay.” Fish Venkat’s powerful Telangana accent had led to the birth of his nickname, and he had worked in many popular films such as the recent Aha thriller “Coffee with a Killer.”

The health of the actor had recently been declining, and he was admitted to the ICU after his kidney problem aggravated, for a transplant. The transplant cost was estimated at Rs. 50 lakh, which was a huge strain on his family’s finances. Unexpectedly, Fish Venkat’s daughter Sravanthi had stated that Prabhas’ team had made a financial contribution towards the transplant. But the family later said that the call was a hoax, and they had not received any assistance.

Fish Venkat’s death came as a shock to the Telugu film industry, with his fans and colleagues grieving the loss of this great comedian. He has a wife and three children behind him. His acting in the movies “Maa Vintha Gaadha Vinuma” and “DJ Tillu” during the Covid-19 period reflected the best of his versatility and talent. The industry recalls him bringing smiles and happiness through his acting.
