Teenage Girl Hacked to Death by Stalker in Ganjam

Berhampur: In a shocking incident, a teenage girl was brutally hacked to death inside her home at Karapalli village under Gopalpur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday morning. The accused, reportedly a youth from Jatni in Khurda district, is said to have been stalking and harassing the girl for some time.

According to sources, the youth forcefully entered the victim’s house and attacked her with a sharp weapon. The girl suffered severe injuries on her hands and body and died on the spot. Her body, drenched in blood, was later recovered from inside the house.

Family members alleged that the accused was obsessed with the girl and had been stalking her over the past few weeks. Despite lodging a prior complaint with the local police regarding the youth’s threatening behaviour, they claimed that no firm action had been taken to prevent the tragedy.

Upon receiving information, Gopalpur police reached the scene, launched an investigation, and sent the body for post-mortem. Efforts are currently underway to trace and apprehend the absconding accused. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
