Surplus rice of Odisha to be evacuated by FCI

Bhubaneswar: The surplus rice (from the procured paddy) of Odisha will reportedly been evacuated by the Food Corporation of India (FCI). Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed this on Thursday.

As per reports, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Krushna Chandra Patra, after discussions with Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi said today in Bhubaneswar that the surplus rice of the State would be evacuated by FCI.

This year, the Odisha government has procured 94 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Out of this, 65 lakh metric tonnes will be rice.

The state needs 26 lakh metric tonnes of rice. Hence, the remaining 24 lakh metric tonnes of rice will be evacuated by the Food Corporation of India (FCI). This time, the surplus 15 lakh metric tonnes of rice will be evacuated by FCI, Minister Patra said.
