Sura Routray Rejoins Congress After Suspension

Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader Suresh Kumar Routray, popularly known as Sura Routray, has rejoined the party after a nine-month suspension. His return was marked by a grand welcome, during which the octogenarian leader became emotional and teary-eyed.

Routray was initially suspended for six years due to alleged anti-party activities during the last general elections. However, newly appointed Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhakta Charan Das has taken the initiative to revoke suspensions and expulsions of party leaders, paving the way for Routray’s return.

Following his reinstatement, Routray expressed his gratitude and happiness, welcoming the party’s decision. A six-time MLA from Jatni constituency, he remains a significant figure in Odisha politics.
