Subhadra Yojana Aid for Left-Out Beneficiaries on April 22-23

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Sunday announced that financial assistance under the Subhadra Yojana will be provided to eligible beneficiaries who were left out in the previous phase, with disbursements scheduled for April 22 and 23. This will follow a verification survey aimed at identifying ineligible applicants.

Speaking to media, Parida addressed concerns raised by several women who missed out on the second installment of the scheme. She revealed that around 1.7 lakh new applications have been received since the initial March 31 deadline, prompting the government to launch a door-to-door survey to verify their eligibility. District administrations have been instructed to oversee the verification process and ensure that deserving candidates are not overlooked.

“The third installment will be disbursed after the completion of the survey to weed out ineligible beneficiaries. Additionally, the scheme will reopen for women who recently turned 21, allowing them to apply,” Parida added.

During a recent interaction with five women in Bhadrak—who had received the first installment but were later excluded—Parida clarified that their ineligibility was due to income tax returns exceeding ₹5 lakh. However, she assured that these cases are under review and the government is committed to ensuring that only eligible beneficiaries receive the financial aid.

“A fresh round of door-to-door verification will be carried out after April 14 to categorize and resolve ineligible cases. The objective is to ensure that no eligible woman is denied the benefits,” she said.

The Deputy CM also stated that no new applications will be accepted going forward. The verification process will rely solely on the data already submitted through the official portal. Reports indicate that around 1 lakh women were excluded from receiving the second installment. These women, along with eligible applicants from the 1.7 lakh new entries, will be given priority during the upcoming disbursal.

To ensure smooth implementation and resolution of remaining issues, a special outreach program will also be launched in the coming days.

The Subhadra Yojana, aimed at empowering women through direct financial support, continues to be a flagship initiative of the Odisha government.
