Statue of Biju Patnaik burnt down in Balangir

Balangir: In an offensive act in Balangir’s Patnagarh, the statue of Biju Patnaik was burnt down in Parsuram square. There was a dispute over the placing of the statue of the son of the soil Bijayananda Patnaik.

Some unknown miscreants have burnt down the statue of Biju Patnaik. The statue of Biju Patnaik was wrapped with polythene and kept there as the dispute over the placement of the statue was continuing.

Who has burnt the statue and why is still not clear. Police investigating the matter to find out the truth. The Patnagarh NAC has cleaned the pieces of the broken statue. Police is checking the CCTV footages.

The Panchayati Raj Diwas that was celebrated on the birth anniversary of the Biju Patnaik on March 5 was recently shifted to April 24. The Opposition party of Biju Janta Dal had protested the insult meted out to the former Chief Minister of Odisha.
