Start lifelong journey of continuous learning: Mishra

Sambalpur, Jan 7: Additional Principal Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office Pramod Kumar Mishra Sunday appealed to the students’ community to maintain their journey for continuous learning at all times.

“Getting a degree of graduation or post graduation is not end of learning,” said Mishra addressing the first convocation of the Gangadhar Meher University here.

Mishra, an alumnus of the GM College (now university) and resident of Sambalpur town, congratulated students who received their degrees in the first convocation.

“You will leave the university today not with mere marks or degrees. You will take much more,” he  expressed hope,” he said.

The students might have learnt as much outside classrooms as they did inside them, he added.

Talking about the role played by the teaching and non-teaching staff and their contribution for the success of the students, Mishra said, “You must acknowledge their support and always remember that no person is  successful just by himself/herself.”

He appealed the students to keep working, keep learning and keep dreaming and stay on the path of continuous growth.

Mishra, talking about the modern world, said that the students are graduating in an opportune time since India is one of the fastest growing major economies in the world with sustained rate of growth in every front.

He also cited some of the Slokas from Veda that shows the way for ideal life and moral practices.

At the outset, Vice Chancellor Dr Atanu Kumar Pati presented the success stories of the university.

He also narrated the success stories of the staff who have established their name and fame both nationally and internationally.

In the absence of the Chancellor of the Governor Prof Ganeshilal, the chief guest and the vice chancellor gave away the medals and degrees to the successful students.

The students wore Sambalpuri fabric as decided earlier.
