Srimandir Ratna Bhandar Repairs Paused Until January 3

Puri: The ongoing repair and renovation work of the Ratna Bhandar at Srimandir has been temporarily halted from today, with plans to resume on January 3, 2025. The decision was made to accommodate the influx of devotees expected for New Year celebrations.

The renovation, which began on December 17, is being carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under the supervision of the Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA). The project is estimated to take three months to complete, following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) set by the Odisha government and the temple authorities.

Meanwhile, on the occasion of Christmas, large crowds of devotees and tourists were seen visiting the Srimandir to seek blessings from the Trinity deities. Despite the cold and rainy weather, visitors are enjoying their time at Puri beach.

Special identity cards have been issued to workers and officials involved in the repair, with strict protocols in place. All individuals entering the Ratna Bhandar must wear traditional attire, similar to the servitors.

Upon completion of the repair work, all jewellery and valuables will be returned to the Ratna Bhandar, where an official inventory and estimation process will take place.
