Puri: Today is Shreekshetra Bhanuri jatra. On this occasion, the three chariots’ ‘Chaka-akha Dera’ ritual will be completed in Puri of Odisha. Therefore, according to tradition, the ‘Angyamala’ (Garland of order) will be taken to the Rathakhala. Today, wheels will be attached to the three chariots.
According to the tradition, the Puja Panda servitors from the Shreemandira will take the Angyamala of the deities. There, two wheels of each of the three chariots will be and one each axle (Akha) will be attached to the chariots. This is called the ‘Chaka-akha Dera Niti’.
After the ‘Sakaladhupa’, the Puja Pandas of the three ‘Badas’ will bring three Angyamala and ceremonially set it at the Chaka-Akha of the three chariots. On this occasion, the first Haribol will be performed by the Bhoi Sevaks. Today is Shreekshetra Bhaunri Jatra. Last year 15 people had been killed in a fire mishap during this Bhanuri Jatra.
All rituals of the Shreekshertra Bhanuri Jatra have been scheduled for today. At 3 am in the morning Mangala alati after Dwaraphita niti which will be followed by Mailama and Abakasha etc. rituals. The Sakaladhupa timing is between 7.30 am to 9.30 am. It will be followed by the Bije of Angyamala to the Rathakhala on the Badadana, the grand road.
Meanwhile, extensive arrangements have been made by the police administration for the holy Bhanuri Yatra. Last year, more than 15 lives were lost during this festival due to a fire mishap that took place after blast at a place where firecrackers had been kept for this festival. Hence, this year firecracker has been completely banded.
Keeping in mind the gathering of lakhs of devotees during the Bhanuri Yatra, a large force will be deployed near the Shreemandira, the Shrimandir office and the Narendra Pushkarini (pond).
