Soumya Patnaik’s Jibe on Pandian
Bhubaneswar: BJD MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik once again inflicted a veiled attack on the State Govt. in his editorial. Soumya, a Legislator from Khandapada in Nayagarh district, and an Odia daily editor, gave critical remarks on how the Naveen Patnaik Government is functioning in the State now.
Through the editorial titled ‘Aparajita’s Questions’, the BJD leader wanted to know whether the Chief Minister is aware of the debate going on 5T Secretary’s involvement in direct politics across the State.
“If the CM knows the matter (Pandian exercising ministerial power) and is keeping mum, will it be considered as the CM’s decision? This is against the democratic primary notion of ‘delegated power can not be further delegated’,” Patnaik remarked in the editorial. He pooh-poohed the arguments in favour of Pandian ‘Saheb’ in the matters of representing the CM in declaring government projects.
“They say the Chief Minister has got a mandate from the people to govern the State and, as the Chief Minister, it is his prerogative whom he will pick as a minister and whom he will give responsibility in the governance. But the basic democratic concept, ‘delegated power cannot be further delegated’ can’t be averted,” he contended.
Terming the Chief Minister a brilliant student, the MLA insisted that he reply to the questions of Aparajitas on Pandian present role in governance. “A scholar student doesn’t avert any question,” he mentioned and wanted that the Chief Minister give a reply and upheld the ethos of a good student. Soumya had also made such critical remarks on the functioning of the BJD and BJD-led government in the State earlier.
