Sonepur: Five Killed in Road Accident

Sonepur (Reporters Today Bureau): In a tragic incident, five persons were killed and another five persons were injured in a road accident here in Sonepur today. The deceased persons were identified as Asish Pandia, Pramod Pandia, Siddhi Pandia, Trayambak Meher and Subham Pandia – all are from Nimna village under Ullunda Block in Subarnapur district.

According to reports, as many as 10 persons from Nimna village were returning on a SUV after attending a marriage ceremony at Kaudiamunda village late on Friday night. At around 1 am, the SUV carrying them hit a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction on the Mahanadi bridge.

While five persons were killed on the spot, five others trapped inside the vehicle were rescued by police with help of gas cutters. All the injured persons were initially rushed to the Subarnapur District Headquarters Hospital. Later, they were shifted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla for treatment.
