Snake Catcher Dies While Rescuing Cobra
Birmaharajpur: A snake catcher died after a rescued cobra bit him in Adarsha Police Station campus in Birmaharajpur Sub-Division of Subarnapur district yesterday. According to reports, the snake catcher, identified as Gaura Kumbhar alias Gaura Baba of Mendhamal village in Birmaharajpur sub-division in the district, was called by a nearby villager for rescuing the cobra.
Gaura had gone to the nearby village in the morning and caught the cobra with a plastic jar and then went to Birmaharajpur Adarsha police station on some personal work. On being requested by the cops to show the rescued snake, Gaura opened the jar and brought the poisonous snake out. While he was holding the snake in his hand, it bit him.
The local cops rushed him to the Sub-divisional hospital first and then to district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Subarnapur. But Gaura baba succumbed during the treatment in Subarnapur hospital. Further details awaited.
