Silver Plating Work of Singha Dwara’s ‘Gumuta’ Begins

Puri: The Silver plating work of Singha Dwara’s ‘Gumuta’ has begun at the famous Lord Jagannath temple, the Srimandira in Puri of Odisha on Sunday. As per reports, the silver plating is being applied to the ‘Gumuta’ of the Singha Dwara of the temple. The silver repair work looks attractive with fine craftsmanship.

Not only the Singha Dwara’s gate, but also the gate of the Bhandar Lokanath temple, which guards the Ratna Bhandar, will be silver plated. The ‘Prabha’ and ‘Khilana’ will also be silver plated. The silver plating will be 6 feet high and three and a half feet wide here.

The temple administration has taken steps in this regard. It is expected to start work in the next two months.

Similarly, the temple administration is preparing to silver plate the seven Prabhas of the idols, including Madan Mohan, Sridevi, Bhudevi, Dolagobinda and others.

The steps to cover the Patitapabana temple, the khilana, the Mahaprabhu’s Anasara Khata (bed) with silver have also been started and the aim is to complete it by December.

The gate of the Bhandara Ghara is about 6 feet high and three and a half feet wide. Effort is being made to cover it with silver for its beautification and maintenance which has been welcomed in all quarters.

The servitors have demanded that like the Singhadwara, the other three gates should also be covered with silver.
