Sanitation workers in Odisha to get life insurance worth Rs. 10 lakh

Bhubaneswar: Sanitation workers in Odisha shall be given life insurance worth Rs. 10 lakh, assistance of Rs. 30 lakh for loss of life, mobile phone and houses. The CM announced these in the workshop organized today for the safety and dignity of the sanitation workers who constantly keep our cities clean.
CM Mohan Charan Majhi while addressing the gathering at Lok Seva Bhawan said that, “It is our moral responsibility to provide them justice, safety and dignity.” He participated as the Chief Guest in a national workshop for sanitation workers today. The theme of the two-day workshop is ‘Transforming Core Sanitation Work- Safety, Dignity & Inclusion’.
Addressing the government officials and sanitation workers from seven states and various districts of Odisha, the Chief Minister said that cleanliness is also reflected in our Jagannath culture. The procession during the Rath Yatra is a prime example of this. It emphasizes on the dignity of sanitation work. He said that Odisha’s Garima Yojana ensures the safety, dignity and social security of sanitation workers. Garima Yojana has fulfilled the national sanitation target and has been an inspiration for many states.
The program was graced by several dignitaries. The Chief Minister made a major announcement on the occasion in which he said that the sanitation workers in Odisha shall be given life insurance worth Rs. 10 lakh, assistance of Rs. 30 lakh for loss of life, mobile phone and house.
