Sambalpur: Class 10 Girl Delivers Baby
In a shocking incident, a Class 10 tribal girl from Nakatideula area in Sambalpur district delivered a baby at home on Friday, prompting a police investigation. Authorities have detained one person in connection with the case.
The girl, a student at a high school under Nakatideula police limits, reportedly complained of severe stomach pain before delivering the baby girl. Neither her family nor school authorities were aware of her pregnancy.
Following the incident, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, acting on instructions from Rasmiranjan Mahanta, sub-collector of Redhakhol, rescued the girl and admitted her to Nakatideula Community Health Centre. Both the mother and newborn are reported to be in stable condition.
The Block Education Officer (BEO) has initiated an investigation, and the school’s headmaster has been issued a show-cause notice. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Mukesh Bhanu has formed a special investigation team to probe the case further.
