To suppress hunger from the state, SAI trust has initially installed Food banks in different places of Bhubaneswar- the first in Acharya Vihar and then Ram Mandir. The Mayurbhanj Chapter of the Initiative along with a Food Bank has been inaugurated in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Baripada. Apart from this SAI has also launched Odisha’s First Mobile Food banks in Bhubaneswar that would go around the city and provide food to needy. Further, the trust has planned to open Food Banks at Bhadrakh, Bhawanipatna, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Balasore, Jaipur by February 2020.

Earlier August 2019, the Hunger-free Odisha Initiative along with Food Bank, had lunched Web Portal and Mobile App making the process of donation more appropriate and easy to access.

Not just Food Banks, SAI earlier of this month had launched its “Shradha Arpana Initiative” under which the foundation would collect donated food grains from across the city for the underprivileged. The idea of food grain donation came from the ancient odia practice of “muthi chaula” which means a fist full of rice for the people who serve for society. With the similar idea under the “Shradha Arpana Initiative”, this time the foundation has come up with new concept of donating food grains through which the trust will distribute bags in the selective apartments/societies/households in the smart city for the collection of grains which will later be collected by SAI once in a fortnight.

The main objective of SAI Trust is to fight against the hunger and malnutrition through a network food banks and Shradha Arpana Initiative in every district by 2025. This innovative idea of starting food bank is a dream project of Pinaki Mohanty, the founder of So Am I, which is nurtured and support by Dr. Chidatmika Khatua, a well known social activist and Dr. Rina Routray, A noted Environmental scientist and social leader.

So am I Foundation Trust is a Non-profit Making Organisation registered under the Trust Act. The prime objectives of the Trust are: To spread happiness, to create Food Banks in Odisha in communities to systematically capture and distribute food to reduce hunger and malnutrition; to move towards a Hunger Free Odisha.
