Sagar Kavach-1 launched to strengthen coastal security

Bhubaneswar: The two-day joint exercise, Sagar Kavach-1, kicked off on Wednesday in Paradip, aimed at enhancing coastal security in the wake of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
Organized twice a year by both the state and central governments, this exercise focuses on preventing terrorist activities and infiltration through waterways.
This year’s first exercise is taking place in the deep sea, where over ten departments are participating. The exercise will showcase techniques to prevent terrorist attacks and manage security along both water and land routes. The Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Fisheries Department, Marine Police, and other key agencies are conducting patrols along the coastline to ensure maximum security.
The participating agencies, which include the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, CISF, Fisheries Department, Marine Police, Customs Department, Fire Department, Odisha Police, Forest Department, and Paradip Port, have been split into two teams. The Red Team will simulate a terrorist attack via the waterway, aiming to infiltrate the land. In contrast, the Blue Team will act as the defensive force, working to thwart the Red Team’s efforts.
The exercise commenced, covering both the waterway and land areas, according to Smruti Ranjan Kar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Paradip.
