Rourkela Police Nab Notorious Ganja Peddler with 2.1 Kg Contraband

Rourkela: In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics trade, Rourkela Police on Tuesday arrested notorious ganja smuggler Lengdu Majhi and seized 2.1 kg of ganja from his possession.

According to police sources, the arrest was made following a tip-off received by Sub-Inspector Sebati Singh of Plant Site Police Station during routine patrolling. The information indicated that Majhi was attempting to smuggle ganja near the railway overbridge on Gandhi Road.

Acting swiftly, the police laid a trap and conducted a sudden raid at the location, successfully apprehending Majhi and recovering the contraband.

Following the seizure, Majhi was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Police revealed that Majhi is a habitual offender with as many as 21 cases registered against him across four different police stations in Rourkela. These include 13 cases at Plant Site Police Station, 4 at Sector-3 Police Station, 3 at SRP Rourkela Police Station, and 1 at Sector-19 Police Station.

The police have intensified their surveillance and enforcement activities in recent weeks to curb the drug menace in the region.
