Rohit Sharma announces retirement from Test Cricket

New Delhi: India Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma,who had earlier announced from the T20I format, announced retirement from the Test cricket on Wednesday. He announced the retirement ahead of India’s tour to England, where they are scheduled to play five Tests.

Rohit Sharma, who is commonly called the Hit-Man, took to his Instagram to inform about his retirement from the Test but he confirmed that he will continue to represent India in the ODI format.

“Hello everyone I would just like to share that I am retiring from Test Cricket. It’s been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format,” Sharma said in a post on Instagram.

Till date, Sharma has played 67 Test matches and has scored 4301 runs with 12 hundreds and 18 half centuries. He has an average of 40.57.

In his 11-year career in the longest format, Rohit has played 67 Test matches, of which he has captained 24 matches, and has scored 4301 runs with 12 hundreds and 18 half centuries. He has an average of 40.57.

It is to be noted here that Rohit Sharma had retired from the T20I format soon after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.
